Class – Music History and Appreciation for Adults
This three class series will examine the basic building blocks of classical music from the Baroque era to the present. Content will be supplemented by listenings, readings, and live examples to explore how music is composed and performed. We will listen to literature for solo instruments as well as chamber and orchestral works. Students will be able to identify music from different periods and develop a vocabulary to describe the elements of music.
Class – Performance Class (with pizza) for students
Students will gain performance and collaboration experience with their peers while parents can go eat on Larchmont or have a glass of wine in the studio lounge! In a small group setting, students can try out pieces in progress and get feedback in a supportive environment while having a tasty pizza dinner. This class will exhibit collaboration and music making as an engaging social activity. The class meets the last Friday of every Month from 6pm-7pm. Ages 10-18. Current enrollment at RSoM in private lessons is required. Class size is limited to 5 students per class.
Class – Guided Listening: Piano Music Overview
This three class series will expose the student to a large variety of piano music. We will discuss some major works for the piano as well as the contexts in which they were composed. The development of the piano and how composers expressed their ideas will also be explored.
