Kim Acuña has created a well rounded style that is flexible to each student’s individual needs. Whether you’re in need of help prepping for an audition, performance, character development for a role or continued work on your craft, she’s ready and excited to be apart of your journey. Her heart and passion will always be in Musical Theater teaching, but there is always a place and an emphasis for all genres of music. By adding some influences of “Speech Level Singing” techniques to the student’s study, the goal is to give you the opportunity to discover your full vocal potential and open the mind to new ideas.
Kim was born and raised in the beautiful Northern California area and from a very young age, she began to sing her heart out in her homeschool choir, in church and all over the house. She is a graduate of Simpson University where she received a B.A with an Emphasis in Voice. She trained as a Mezzo-Soprano in Classical voice and later went on to study Musical Theater. Since graduating she’s had the opportunity to utilize this degree in private vocal instruction, directing, musical directing, after school music instruction, and (her greatest passion) performing on stage. Kim’s had the privilege of performing in roles, such as, Mrs. Darling (Peter Pan), Mrs. Cratchit (A Christmas Carol), Regina (Rock of Ages), Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins). Glinda the Good Witch (The Wizard of Oz), Ensemble/Beggar Woman (Les Misérables), Penny (Hairspray) and more. Kim is currently active in the areas of “Voice Acting”, TV/Film, vocal instruction, singer, lyricist and stage performer based out of the Los Angeles area.
